About Decipher Healthcare

Healthcare is complicated. It doesn't have to be.

If you've ever stared at a medical bill wondering what coinsurance actually means, or spent 45 minutes on hold trying to understand why a claim was denied... you're not alone. The US healthcare system is built for administrators, not patients.

Decipher exists to change that.

What we do

We publish plain-language guides that explain how health insurance actually works, from reading your Explanation of Benefits (EOB) to appealing a denied claim, from understanding your deductible to knowing your rights when you get a surprise medical bill.

No jargon. No assumptions. Just clear, actionable guidance for anyone who needs to navigate the healthcare system.

Who we are

Decipher Healthcare was founded by Pete Francis, Sid Bothra, and Scott Johnson, a team with deep experience across healthcare operations, consumer technology, and artificial intelligence.

Pete Francis is CEO and co-founder. He previously co-founded Xembly and led growth at Qualtrics, while serving as GM of Digital at T-Mobile and working on the launch of Amazon Kindle.

Sid Bothra is COO and co-founder. He previously led Provider Operations at UnitedHealthcare and held customer experience leadership roles at T-Mobile. His background in healthcare operations and payer systems informs everything Decipher publishes.

Our commitment

Everything we publish is written to be accurate, sourced, and useful. We cite official sources — CMS.gov, state insurance regulators, federal law — and we update our content when the rules change. We don't accept advertising or sponsored content that could compromise our guidance.
